The Kiryat Bialik Youth Violin Ensemble
On Sunday June 8, 2008, we will be hosting one of the most wonderful programs that we have had at Temple Beth Sholom during the year. If you still haven’t heard, we have a group of eight children from Israel who are students at The Schwartz Conservatory in Kiryat Bialik (near Haifa). These eight children are not only extremely talented and have won numerous international prizes for their music — they represent a new generation of Israelis! They will perform not only beautiful classical music but will also make us rejoice an experience profound joy through the haunting melodies of our People’s music.
I know, Sunday at 3 p.m. — why would I want to go to a concert? Well, I have heard many people say many times that there is no culture in our city. I think that is wrong! This is one of those incredible opportunities that we have to be exposed to music of tremendous quality. This is a unique opportunity to celebrate Israel in a very different way… After 60 years, it feels so good to see our children traveling around the world, making beautiful music — feeling proud to be who they are!
This is not your falafel and houmus Yom Ha’atzmaut Celebration. This is something absolutely unique! So why come? Show your support for Israel! Show your support for Israel’s children! Most importantly, treat yourself to an incredible afternoon. An interesting note is that The Kiryat Bialik Conservatory is the place where the Masorti (Conservative) Synagogue of Kiryat Bialik meets every Shabbat while they build their new Sanctuary. Rabbi Mauricio Balter, whom many of you have met, will be joining the children on this trip as well.
Tickets are available. Please call the Temple Office for more information (702) 804-1333; admission is $20 for adults. Children can come free of charge. For more information, click here.
